1.2 Beyond words – Rooting the strategy

Efficient performance of an organisation is often based on smart strategic choices and decisions, which form preconditions for sustainable use of resources. The selected strategies are implemented by different procedures, budgets and programmes. In many cases people implementing the strategy are different from those who formulated it. Sometimes strategic targets set on a higher level may also seem abstract from the perspective of implementer.

5.2 Seeing past tomorrow – The Lisbon strategy 20 years from now?

To ensure that strategic public governance supports the implementation of the Lisbon strategy also in the long run countries need to look beyond current routines. This session examines the instruments and practices in the national programmes of Lisbon strategy ensuring that we are not coming prisoners of routines. Instead we will be able to innovate and ensure sustainability of the implementation.
